New Precision Hot Water Dispenser Provides More than Great Coffee and Teas

water and gaugeWhile the new H5E/X from BUNN helps you prepare great beverages for your customers, did you know it can also increase employee efficiency, reduce labour costs and even aid purifying processes?
"Automate" your boiling water. Given that the average stock pot boils approximately 19 litres at a time, this means that the pot must be replenished several times a day. The pot must also be consistently monitored, checked to be sure it doesn't boil dry, and washed at the end of the day. Because the H5E/X water dispenser is totally automatic, kitchen staff is freed for other responsibilities and the stovetop real estate is freed for other items such as soups, noodles and gravies that require boiling time. Also, many foods needing hot water can be prepared in the container in which they will be served such as oatmeal. So there are fewer pots and pans to wash and put away.
Reduce accidents and congestion around the stove. One of the biggest causes of kitchen accidents is water on the floor. Instead, why not put the H5E/X right where you need it? You won't have to transfer water from stockpot to the work area. Another common problem facing operators is congestion in the kitchen. The H5E/X can create a "work station" away from congested areas. It has a compact footprint and yet can deliver up to 53 litres per hour. Also, no venting is required.
Preheat thermal containers easier and faster. To insure foods and beverages will stay hotter, most caterers H5X Element Colorspreheat thermal containers with hot water prior to use or pre-fill chafing dishes to insure consistent, optimal temperatures. The H5E/X provides convenient hot water on the spot, and—equally as important—features an Energy Saver Mode that reduces operating costs during idle periods.
Offered in five vibrant colour options that also makes it ideal for front-of-the-house display, a BUNN H5E/X system is almost like adding another member to your staff!

Eliminate the bacterial hazard. Clean work areas are critical to commercial operations. Cross contamination and sterile preparation procedures are of central concern, especially handling raw chicken, seafood and special dietary items. In combination with half the bleach or other detergents normally required, water from the H5E/X makes a more powerful cleaner than hot tap water. Water that is 100ºC can also be a powerful agent in keeping floor drains clean and sterilizing prep utensils.

Nordic Barista Cup 2011 25 - 27 Augusttop

water and gaugeThe Nordic Barista Cup is an annual three-day event that was held in Denmark this year. The number of attendees is limited to 170 hard-core coffee aficionados. Though primarily a competition between teams of baristas from the five Nordic countries - Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden - it's also a forum for coffee education & networking with a mini exhibition and a charity fund-raiser for a coffee-producing country.
This year's fund raising efforts benefited construction of a school in Sumatra, Indonesia. To further this awareness all the coffees served during the breaks, lunches and dinners were from Sumatra. There was also a cupping session with a variety of Sumatran coffees.
BUNN was pleased to provide and operate all the brewing equipment for the coffee served during the morning breakfast, as well as lunch in the afternoon.
On Aug. 26th we were very busy helping the Nordic Roaster Competition entrants dial in their precise brewing parameters for the next day's competition. The Nordic Roaster Competition is a parallel competition looking to find the best coffee roaster each year. This competition is broken down into two categories:H5X Element Colors espresso & filter. Our time spent with the roasters was very valuable to us!
The Nordic Roasters Competition was very close with a one point differential. Solberg & Hansen won the competition with a particularly fruity Kenyan Coffee (Kenya, Kangocho: grapefruit, jasmine, berrylike acidity, balanced and transparent). It was an honour for BUNN to announce the winners and hand out the prizes at the 'Olympic' themed gala dinner.
Mike Khan and Keith Collins were present to assist for the duration of the event. Keith Collins was mentioned in the NBC live blog with a great quote: "If it's not espresso, it's BUNN!"

Expo Café 1 - 3 Septembertop

water and gaugeDuring the 2011 Expo Café, the BUNN trifecta® received great interest by those in attendance as it was the featured brewing platform for the EXPOCAFE TASTE AWARD and EXOTIC COFFEE TASTING events. Placement of the trifecta in the Yotomocafé was also ideal as it was a place dedicated to coffee consumption. Here visitors were able to taste and vote for the six coffees competing in the finals. In addition they were able to learn about the unique air infusion process. The BUNN booth featured the same six coffees of the Yotomocafé booth and allowed demonstration of consistency of taste and profiles. The producers of the coffee finalists visited to discuss how the trifecta brewing process influenced the taste of their product. In addition to the trifecta, BUNN introduced the new iMIX® Oatmeal machine and the 392®. These products demonstrate our passion for providing customers the solutions they need to be competitive. During the show Avi Sandler of BUNN was a participant on a local radio show in discussions relating to coffee consumption in Mexico.
