Desiree Logsdon, BUNN VP of Marketing, brought back a glowing report from the NCA Convention last week.
The National Coffee Association
held its 99th Annual Convention March 18-20. This year's theme, The Power of Coffee
, focused on changing lives and creating futures. The Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel, Dana Point, CA served as a stunning location for this year's event.
I have no doubt that conference attendees were pleased with the content of the agenda. Highlights included comments from Dub Hay, newly elected
Chairman of the NCA Board of Directors. Mr. Hay emphasized NCA's focus on increasing membership in the organization in the coming year. Rocky Laverty, President & CEO of Farmer Bros
., provided insight on past and future changes in the coffee industry. Other sessions focused on NCA Government Affairs, Economic Forecasting and Child Labor issues.
Breakout sessions tackled current topics such as the "At-Home Coffee Market Segment," with a focus on single-cup brewing methods and "Social Media," discussing success stories using this marketing tool.
The "Coffee's Got Talent" reception brought together the finest voices in the industry singing karaoke. What a memorable party! With this year's event behind us, we look forward to the Centennial Convention in New Orleans, March 17-19, 2010.
